TrendForce: The AI laptop market is on the rise, with DRAM capacity expected to increase by 7%
With the bullish AI laptop (AI NB) market, TrendForce predicts that the penetration rate of AI NB will increase to 20.4% in 2025, driving an overall average capacity growth of at least 7%.
With the improvement of AI applications, the ability to handle complex tasks, provide better user experience, and improve productivity, it will drive the rapid growth of consumer demand for more intelligent and efficient terminal devices. TrendForce estimates that the penetration rate of AI NB will increase from 1% in 2024 to 20.4% in 2025, and AI NB needs to carry more than 16GB of DRAM, which will drive an overall average capacity growth of 0.8GB, with an increase of at least 7%.
Overall, the average carrying capacity of NB DRAM will increase by 12% from 10.5GB in 2023 to 11.8GB by 2024.
TrendForce also believes that AI NB will not only increase the average carrying capacity of NB DRAM, but also drive the demand for energy-saving and high-frequency memory. In this situation, compared to DDR, LPDDR is more able to highlight its advantages, thus accelerating the trend of LPDDR replacing DDR.
Overall, the average carrying capacity of NB DRAM will increase by 12% from 10.5GB in 2023 to 11.8GB by 2024.
