Singapore GaN chip supplier Gallium Semi goes bankrupt
GaasLabs LLC has decided to close its wholly-owned subsidiary, Gallium Semi, a Singapore RF GaN chip supplier, and lay off all employees, including the research and development center located in Nijmegen, Netherlands.
GaasLabs LLC has been providing funding for Canadian League Semiconductors since its establishment in 2020. GaasLabs stated that after the death of GaasLabs founder John Ocampo in November 2023, the company made the decision to close the Canadian semiconductor industry.
"This is the most regrettable, and many of our employees, customers, and partners are still shocked by this sudden decision. The official reason provided by GassLabs is that our founder John Ocampo has passed away. GassLabs has decided not to continue funding the Canadian semiconductor industry. We will close the company and all employees will be disbanded."
It is reported that the goal of Galactic Semiconductor is to promote the large-scale commercialization of semiconductor solutions for gallium nitride (GaN) processes in multiple fields, including 5G mobile communication, aerospace, industry, science, and medical applications.
In recent years, Canadian semiconductor companies have embarked on a path of expansion and officially opened an advanced packaging and testing production line in Laguna, Philippines in February 2023.
The newly added production line has cutting-edge RF power transistor technology, aiming to provide products and services to global customers. The Gallium Semi team focuses on providing advanced RF power amplifier products in DFN, QFN, ACC, and ACP packaging. The product has superior application and technical capabilities, which can ensure the consistency and reliability of the company's delivery of high-quality products.
According to its LinkedIn page, Canadian League Semiconductor has 11 to 50 employees.
