SIA: Global semiconductor sales increased by 1.9% month on month in September, a seven month increase in a row
According to data released by the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) on November 1st, global semiconductor sales in September 2023 increased by 1.9% compared to August 2023 and decreased by 4.5% compared to September 2022. In the third quarter of 2023, global semiconductor sales totaled $134.7 billion, an increase of 6.3% compared to the second quarter of 2023 and a decrease of 4.5% compared to the third quarter of 2022.
It is reported that monthly sales are compiled by the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) organization, representing the average of three months. In terms of revenue, SIA accounts for 99% of the US semiconductor industry and nearly two-thirds of non US chip companies.
SIA President and CEO John Neuffer said, "Global semiconductor sales increased for the seventh consecutive month on month in September, strengthening the positive momentum experienced by the chip market in the middle of this year. The long-term outlook for semiconductor demand remains strong, with chips providing support for countless products and giving birth to new revolutionary technologies
By region, monthly sales in China increased by 0.5% month on month, in the Americas by 2.4%, in Europe by 3.0%, and in other Asia Pacific regions (excluding China and Japan) by 3.4%, but in Japan they decreased by 0.2%. Compared to September 2022, sales in Europe (6.7%) increased year-on-year, but decreased in China (-9.4%), the Americas (-2.0%), Japan (-3.6%), and other Asia Pacific regions (excluding China and Japan) (-5.6%).
