Red Hat collaborates with Intel to provide open-source industrial automation for manufacturing workshops
Red Hat, a well-known software service provider, recently announced the launch of a new industrial edge platform designed in collaboration with Intel, which will provide modern methods for building and operating industrial controls. By utilizing standard IT technology and real-time data insights delivered to factory workshops to change the way manufacturers operate, expand, and innovate, this platform will enable industrial control system (ICS) suppliers, system integrators (SI), and manufacturers to achieve automation of previous manual industrial operations.

The industrial edge platform aims to provide a comprehensive solution from real-time workshop control and artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) to complete IT manageability, providing more customer choice architectures and improving overall equipment efficiency (OEE) for data gravity or edge to cloud style. In order to continue supporting this work, Red Hat and Intel are working to integrate Intel based platforms and Intel Industrial Edge Control (ECI) with current and future versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, starting with collaboration within the upstream Linux community.
Through this collaboration, organizations can benefit from fully integrated real-time functionality from chips to software, supporting industrial automation to achieve predictable performance.
