It is reported that Nvidia is the world's largest manufacturer of artificial intelligence and computer graphics chips. After the release of the generative artificial intelligence application ChatGPT at the end of last year, the demand for its chips surged. Nvidia holds approximately 80% of the market share through its chips and other hardware, as well as powerful software that runs these hardware.
Nvidia's GPU is a high-performance device that enables powerful graphics rendering and processing in video editing, video games, and other complex computing operations. The company stated that this has sparked interest from regulatory agencies around the world.
Nvidia stated in a regulatory document dated November 21, "For example, the French Competition Authority has collected information on our business and competition in the graphics card and cloud service provider markets as part of its investigation into these market competitions."
A person familiar with the matter said that French regulatory agencies raided Nvidia's office in France in September.
Nvidia stated in the document, "We have also received information requests from EU and Chinese regulatory authorities regarding the distribution of company GPU sales and supply, and we expect to receive more information requests in the future."
