MediaTek announced collaboration with Meta to jointly develop AR glasses chips
At the recently held MediaTek 2023 Summit, MediaTek and Meta officially announced the establishment of a partnership. The two sides will collaborate in the field of AR smart glasses to jointly develop new products.
In October 2023, Meta launched a smart eyewear product co branded with the eyewear brand Leipeng, equipped with cameras, microphones, speakers, and more. The next generation Meta smart glasses are expected to have built-in displays, similar to AR devices.
The cooperation between MediaTek and Meta means that both parties will jointly develop customized SoC chips specifically for AR devices and smart glasses. Regarding Meta's upcoming AR glasses, apart from being equipped with MediaTek chips, there is currently no further news and they are expected to be released in 2025.
