Institution: This year, the pure wafer foundry industry will grow by 16%, and the AI accelerator market will continue to grow
Research firm Omdia released a report on March 27th stating that the global semiconductor supply chain has undergone strategic inventory adjustments in recent quarters, with an expected industry output value of $600 billion by 2024. Enterprises are increasingly utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) to drive the growth of demand throughout the entire supply chain, and it is expected that the semiconductor industry will usher in a promising development trajectory.
In 2023, the global semiconductor industry experienced adjustments due to unfavorable macroeconomic conditions and inventory adjustments. Omdia predicts that the global pure wafer foundry industry's revenue will increase by 16.4% in 2024.
Institutional analyst Claire Wen stated that Nvidia currently dominates the AI accelerator market, particularly in cloud and data center deployment. In addition, large cloud service providers such as Google, Amazon, and Microsoft are also developing dedicated AI acceleration chips (ASICs) to improve cost efficiency and performance under specific loads. The adoption rate of edge artificial intelligence has significantly increased, represented by personal computers (PCs) and smartphones.
Omdia predicts that the market size of the AI accelerator field will continue to grow from 2024 to 2027, and the market size of this field will exceed $150 billion by 2025.
