Institution: The LED dot matrix screen market increased by 23.1% in Q3, maintaining recovery
According to Omdia, a market research firm, global shipments of direct view LED screens have increased by 23.1% month on month and 18.5% year-on-year, marking the third consecutive quarter of recovery. However, inflation has hindered income growth, with the industry's total revenue increasing by 13.9% month on month and only 7.7% year-on-year. Analysts say that end customers and system integrators have been affected by inflationary pressures, reducing their selection of similar low-cost products or compromising on resolution and other aspects.
Statistics show that products with pixel spacing of 2mm or less achieved only 18% year-on-year growth in the third quarter of 2023, while screens with a spacing of 2mm to 4.99mm achieved a growth rate of 29%.
Looking at different regions, the Chinese market rebounded in the third quarter, with a year-on-year growth of 23.6% and a month on month growth of 23.4%; Europe has been greatly affected by inflation, with shipments decreasing by 2.1% month on month; North America is relatively stable, achieving a year-on-year growth of 15.7%.
In terms of technological trends, the sales of products using COB LEDs continue to increase, mainly due to the improvement of Chinese OEM brand technology and production capacity. Compared to SMD technology, COB has advantages in screen uniformity, durability, and power consumption and heat generation. According to Omdia's report, the year-on-year growth rate of COB technology products in the third quarter reached 31.2%, far exceeding that of SMD technology products.
In addition, the integrated (AIO dvLED) large screen monopolizes the size of 110 inches and above, giving it an advantage. This type of product had a growth rate of 57.4% in the third quarter. In the future, as the price competitiveness of such products increases, they will compete directly with LCDs and compete in the enterprise and conference room markets.
