Institution: Growth for two consecutive quarters! Q3 semiconductor industry total output value increased by 8.4% month on month
On November 27th, Omdia's latest report showed that, driven by continuous demand for artificial intelligence, the total output value of the semiconductor industry increased by 8.4% in the third quarter of 2023 compared to the second quarter of 2023, reaching $139 billion.
The report shows that the demand for artificial intelligence remains an important theme for the semiconductor industry in the third quarter. Nvidia and SK Hynix, two companies benefiting from artificial intelligence, have boosted overall growth. Nvidia's semiconductor revenue increased by 18% to $12 billion, compared to $4.6 billion in semiconductor revenue in the third quarter of last year, an increase of $7.3 billion in the same period. SK Hynix's semiconductor revenue increased by 26% to $6.7 billion.

According to Omdia, analysts say that the growth of the semiconductor industry is not entirely due to the demand for artificial intelligence, as other semiconductor sub markets are also growing. After five consecutive quarters of decline, the industry has finally experienced two consecutive quarters of growth. Compared to the second quarter, four of the five major memory manufacturers achieved double-digit growth in memory chip revenue in the third quarter. The demand for artificial intelligence accounts for a large part, but the demand for other applications is also constantly increasing.
