Institution announces the top 25 global semiconductor companies in 2023: TSMC ranks first

Research firm TechInsights released a report in April showcasing the final ranking of the top 25 global semiconductor suppliers in 2023, based on annual sales, divided into IC chips and O-S-D devices (optoelectronics, sensors, and discrete devices).

The companies listed in 2022 and 2023 did not change, but their rankings showed significant changes. TSMC surpassed Samsung and ranked first, with total sales reaching $69.276 billion; Nvidia became the fastest-growing manufacturer, jumping from eighth place to fourth place, with a growth rate of 102% and sales reaching $49.6 billion; SMIC is on the list.

Thirteen of the top 25 suppliers have their headquarters located in the United States; Europe, Taiwan, China and Japan each have three; There are two in South Korea; There is one in Chinese Mainland, and SMIC International ranks 24th.

The report shows that TSMC, the world's largest semiconductor foundry, saw a year-on-year decrease of 9% in sales in 2023, but ranked first. Among other foundries, GlobalFoundries, ranked 21st, saw a 9% decrease in sales to $7.4 billion in 2023; UMC, ranked 22nd, saw a 24% decrease in revenue to $7.1 billion. The 25th ranked manufacturer is Western Data/Shandi, with sales of 5.9 billion US dollars.
