India plans to develop a giant supercomputer equipped with 10000 AI GPUs

India has finally decided to join the Artificial Intelligence (AI) competition, with news that the country plans to develop a "giant supercomputer" equipped with 10000 GPUs.

India has successfully attracted interest from companies such as Apple and Nvidia by targeting technology competitions. After making significant progress in the field of computing, India plans to seize the opportunity of artificial intelligence development. The government has announced plans to invest 103 billion rupees (1.24 billion US dollars) to create a solid artificial intelligence infrastructure.

The Indian government has not yet disclosed the specific details of their plan to use artificial intelligence for research and development, but according to reports, the country is building a large supercomputer under its "Indian Artificial Intelligence Computing Power" program. The supercomputer is expected to use 10000 unmodeled AI GPUs; It is speculated that it will come from NVIDIA. Due to Huang Renxun's recent meeting with Indian Prime Minister Modi, Nvidia received an AI GPU order worth $500 million, including Nvidia H100 and GH200 GPUs.

In addition, India also plans to increase its research and development efforts. The government announced the establishment of a new academic institution "Indian Artificial Intelligence Innovation Center", which is fully responsible for the research and development of the new big language model (LLM) using edge computing. The institution has also planned several other reforms, including the following:

The IndiaAI startup financing mechanism will simplify the financing process and accelerate the commercialization of start-ups and industry-leading artificial intelligence projects;

The IndiaAI dataset platform will receive more cash to improve public sector datasets, so that local AI institutions and governments have the data needed to build appropriate AI applications;

The IndiaAI Future Skills Program will improve enrollment opportunities for graduates and graduate students in artificial i
