In October, the price of small-sized TV LCD panels fell by 3%, marking the first decline in 13 months
Inflation has led to a decline in demand for televisions, causing TV manufacturers to reduce their purchases of LCD panels. In October, the wholesale prices of small-sized (32 inch) TV LCD panels in the market decreased by about 3% month on month to around $37, marking the first decline in 13 months since September 2022.
It is reported that in the October 2023 prices set between Asian panel manufacturers and television manufacturers, the wholesale price of 32 inch Open cells (referring to semi-finished products without backlighting) represented by small-sized panels for television has decreased by 3% (down $1) to around $37 per piece compared to September 2023, marking the first decline since September 2022, with a year-on-year increase of 37% (up $10); The price of the 55 inch product represented by large-sized panels for television is around $127, consistent with September 2023, with a year-on-year increase of 53% (an increase of $44).
According to reports, due to the persistent high prices of small-sized panels and sluggish TV sales, TV manufacturers with inventory have reduced their panel purchases.
Not long ago, Omdia's Chief Analyst stated that panel manufacturers will continue to increase the prices of LCD TV panels in the third quarter of 2023, bringing significant cost pressure to TV brand/OEM manufacturers. Starting from the third quarter of 2023, LCD TV panel purchasers have reduced their panel purchases, leading panel manufacturers to lower production line turnover and implement the so-called production per order policy.
The latest Omdia Display Panel Production and Inventory Tracking Report shows that due to slowing demand and weakened protection of LCD panel prices by panel manufacturers, the overall panel production line turnover rate is expected to drop to below 70% in the fourth quarter of 2023.
