In 2023, the output value of wafer foundry will decrease by 12%, with TSMC's market share ranking first at 55%

The International Institute of Obstetrics, Taiwan, China Institute of Industry Research, estimated that the global wafer foundry output value will decrease by 12% to 124.815 billion dollars this year, and the TSMC market share will reach 55%, firmly ranking the top.

In terms of global wafer foundry production value, the DIGITIMES research center, a market research institution, estimates that global wafer foundry industry revenue may decrease by 13.8% to $121.5 billion this year, and revenue is expected to rebound in 2024. TSMC President Wei Zhejia also estimated that the wafer foundry industry will decrease from a 7-9% annual decrease to a 14-16% annual decrease. When will the semiconductor industry rebound from its bottom? "Wei Zhejia said that he has seen some early signs of recovery on PCs and smartphones. However, whether it bottoms out is very close, but it is still difficult to say whether it will have a strong recovery at present, as customers are still cautious in managing inventory. In addition, demand in the Chinese market is still weak, and customer orders are becoming more conservative. Inventory adjustments will continue until the third quarter.

On October 30, Huang Huixiu, an industry analyst at the International Institute of Obstetrics, Taiwan, China Institute of Industry Research, said at the seminar that with the end of customer inventory correction, demand gradually returned to normal, and the 3 nanometer process began to make a significant contribution to performance, the output value of Taiwan, China wafer foundry in 2024 is expected to rise to NT $2.82 trillion, an increase of 14.7%.
