FocalTech: OLED DDI will be mass produced next year, and the automobile market in Chinese Mainland will stagnate
According to the Financial Express, driver chip design manufacturer FocalTech has announced that OLED DDI will be mass-produced in 2024. FocalTech mentioned that the auto market in Chinese Mainland is at a standstill.
According to the report, the AMOLED market is gradually becoming an important part of the panel industry. Regarding the OLED DDI part, FocalTech stated that it is continuing to develop it. In the verification with panel manufacturers, it is expected to be mass-produced in 2024, mainly using 40nm wafer foundry production.
Hu Zhengda, Chairman of FocalTech, mentioned that there was no exciting recovery in the mobile phone market and there was no momentum for IDC/TDDI. However, AMOLED in the mobile phone market has changed and the production proportion of panel factories in Chinese Mainland has increased. The company's share in the relevant touch IC market has increased. It is expected that the third quarter will be similar to the second quarter, and the second half will still be better than the first half.
FocalTech said that mobile phone OLED panels were quickly replaced by rigid ones by flexible ones, and the flexible market share of Korean products was gradually surpassed by that of Chinese Mainland. The shipment of FocalTech OLED touch ICs will increase with the conversion of panel specifications, and there will be a significant increase in shipments in the fourth quarter of this year.
As far as the automotive market is concerned, FocalTech said that the growth rate in the first half of this year was OK, but from the middle of the second quarter to the first ten days of the third quarter, the growth of the automotive market in Chinese Mainland has stagnated. It is speculated that it may be due to the impact of Tesla's price reduction measures, but the future growth can still be expected.
