Chairman of AData: DRAM and NAND Flash prices are expected to maintain a bullish pattern for a whole year

On January 5th, Chen Libai, Chairman of AData, a storage brand and module manufacturer, expressed his optimism about the market situation. He expressed his optimism about the reduction of storage factory production and the fermentation of capacity crowding out effects, and that AI applications will continue to expand in the second half of the year. The demand for related servers, PCs, and smartphones will come one after another. The prices of DRAM and NAND Flash storage are expected to maintain a pattern of over a year.

Chen Libai further pointed out that the current storage market has entered a bullish market that has never occurred in the past decade. Not only is the supply side tightening and the price increase attitude tough, but there is also a series of emerging AI demand on the demand side, as well as a significant increase in demand for automotive storage. He is optimistic about the positive trend of storage prices this year, and the price increase of NAND Flash and DRAM in the first quarter will be comparable to the fourth quarter of last year.

Recently, it has been reported that storage chip suppliers such as Samsung Electronics and Micron Technology are considering increasing DRAM prices by 15% -20% in the first quarter of 2024.

Compared to the soaring prices of NAND flash memory, DRAM pricing remained relatively stable in the fourth quarter of 2023. However, sources say that storage chip manufacturers currently expect to focus on DRAMs such as DDR4 and DDR5 in the next round of price increases to accelerate the recovery of profits.

A storage module factory has received a notice from Samsung to increase DRAM prices by at least 15% in the first quarter of 2024. But Samsung did not mention the pricing of NAND flash memory, but it is expected that NAND prices will continue to rise. In December 2023, DRAM prices increased by 2% -3%, significantly increasing DRAM prices, but lower than the approximately 10% increase in 3D TLC NAND for that month.
