Avegant smart glasses will use Raontec's LCoS display screen
South Korea's Raontech has announced that its silicon-based liquid crystal (LCoS) display will be used for Avegant's upcoming smart glasses this year.
Avegant is an augmented reality (AR) optics company that is collaborating with Qualcomm and Applied Materials to develop artificial intelligence (AI) smart glasses.
Raontec demonstrated its low-power LCoS module in January this year.
LCoS has high brightness and is increasingly used in AR devices, although its contrast is considered to lag behind OLED and MicroLED.
Raontec stated that Avegant's new technology can increase the contrast of LcoS tenfold and reduce power consumption by 90%.
